West Ham United are eyeing up a move to sign a talented young winger in the January transfer window.
David Moyes is clearly keen to get some attacking reinforcements through the door at West Ham before the January transfer window slams shut.
The Hammers boss is currently without Mohammed Kudus, Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio.
Unfortunately for us, that could be the case for a while, and Sunderland star Jack Clarke appears to be someone who Moyes really wants to sign, with the Black Cats demanding £20 million for the 23-year-old.
Now it seems like West Ham are ramping up our pursuit of the former Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United attacker.
That’s because we have apparently now made the first approach to Sunderland to prise him away from the Stadium of Light…

West Ham move in to sign winger in January window
According to the Mirror (print edition January 11th, page 53), the Hammers have moved in to sign the Sunderland winger.
However, Moyes faces one big problem – Sheffield United, Crystal Palace and Brentford are in the race for Clarke’s signature as well.
Listen, Clarke is a very decent player, and he could well go on to become an elite player. I’m just not sure that he has what it takes to come into West Ham and hit the ground running immediately this month.
He flattered to deceive for Sunderland in the FA Cup against Newcastle on Saturday, and maybe that was evidence that he’s not quite ready to mix it with the big boys just yet.
Or perhaps it was just an off day for the winger. The 23-year-old has really impressed with Sunderland this season, bagging 12 goals and two assists in just 26 Championship games (Transfermarkt).
So he clearly has the ability to score and create goals. The Black Cats ace possesses exceptional technical ability and is really direct when he has the ball at his feet.
If West Ham sign the winger in January I’ll certainly take it, but I won’t lose any sleep if we miss out on him either.
