West Ham just one step away from signing striker with 130 career goals

West Ham United seem to be closing in on the signing of a proven striker before transfer deadline day.

Julen Lopetegui has made eight new signings for West Ham already, during what has been an action-packed summer transfer window.

The Hammers head coach wants even more new arrivals though, and is demanding two top-class players in every single position.

However, the Spaniard must shift some of the deadwood first this summer, before he can make that happen.

Tim Steidten and David Sullivan are thought to be closely working alongside Lopetegui to make two more signings before the window closes.

And if we can bring one or two more top-class players to the London Stadium within the next few days, we should be in line for a very good season indeed.

West Ham one step away from signing 130-goal striker

With Niclas Fullkrug already at the London Stadium, some might assume that Lopetegui is done with bringing in strikers.

It seems like that viewpoint is way off the mark though.

That’s because the Hammers head coach is allegedly targeting a move to sign a proven striker before Friday’s transfer deadline.

According to Italian football journalist Angelo Mangiante, West Ham are just £2.5 million short of bringing Tammy Abraham to the London Stadium.

The Hammers need to up our opening £16.9 million offer for him to £19.4 million, in order to seal the deal.

If Lopetegui manages to bring the 26-year-old to East London, we will be in for a seriously exciting season on all fronts.

Tammy Abraham would instantly make West Ham’s attack one of the most fearsome around, and he would be an absolute steal at the price being quoted.

His record is incredibly impressive, with 130 goals in in 339 career appearances for club and country to his name.

EFL’s official website recently described the former Chelsea man as ‘outstanding’, and they’re certainly not wrong.

Standing at 6ft 5in tall, Abraham is a real handful in the air, and would undoubtedly be a big problem for opposing Premier League defenders – he proved that during his time with Chelsea.

He would be able to link up perfectly with Niclas Fullkrug, with the German having admitted that he likes to drop deep into the number 10 role.

Or he could be used in rotation with the 31-year-old, and lead the line on his own.

For just under £20 million, signing Tammy Abraham before the transfer window closes should be a no-brainer for West Ham.

There is of course the issue he’s had recently with injuries, but what transfer comes with no risk? None I would suggest.

Hopefully Lopetegui, Steidten and Sullivan make this one happen.
