West Ham United remain keen on signing Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton Diaz in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to high-level club insiders Claret and Hugh who claim that the Hammers boss David Moyes is a fan of the 23-year-old.

Brereton Diaz will allegedly cost around £25 million this summer, according to a very good source close to the player (Claret and Hugh).

It was claimed just last month that West Ham are front-runners to sign the Chile international in the summer transfer window.

Moyes’s need to sign a new striker this summer has been well documented since we sold Sebastien Haller to Ajax in January 2021.

It really is an urgent matter now. There will be no excuses for not signing a proven centre-forward this summer.

And it seems as though Moyes could go shopping in the Championship again…

West Ham eyeing summer transfer window swoop for Brereton Diaz

The Blackburn striker is firmly on the Hammers radar this summer according to Claret and Hugh.

We think that for £25 million, Brereton Diaz wouldn’t be a bad signing.

We have to say though, that price sounds a little too expensive for someone who has only one good goalscoring season behind him.

Perhaps £15-20 million would be a more reasonable fee to pay for the Chile international.

The Sun and Alan Nixon recently suggested that a move to West Ham in the summer would be a dream for the 23-year-old striker.

He has really impressed since the start of the 2021/22 campaign and he seems to have reached another level entirely for Blackburn.

The Chile international has bagged 22 goals in 37 Championship games (Transfermarkt). Diaz actually went nine games without scoring after the new year but made up for that with a couple of goals in Blackburn’s final four games of the season.

Brereton Diaz is a hard working striker and standing at 6ft 1in tall, he’s big and strong as well.

Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray recently raved about the Chile international, as quoted by Lancs Live:

“Brereton with the ball at his feet is an extraordinary talent. He’s a wonderful footballer who can dribble with both feet, take people out of the game.”

And if West Ham sign Brereton Diaz in the summer transfer window, we’ll be fairly happy. As long as we don’t pay more than £20 million for him.
