The Sunday Mirror (print edition December 5th, page 70) claimed yesterday that Hammers boss David Moyes is interested in bringing the 30-year-old ex-Chelsea man back to the Premier League.

Moyes is expected be a very busy man in the transfer market in January.

The Scot’s priorities will be to sign a top-class centre-forward and cover for Angelo Ogbonna (and maybe Kurt Zouma) at centre-back and Said Benrahma who is due to head off to the Africa Cup of Nations with Algeria in the new year.

And shock claims emerged over the weekend that the Hammers could be in for an absolute superstar of the game. A fading superstar…but a superstar nonetheless.

Read Madrid star Eden Hazard is allegedly a transfer target for West Ham in January.

The 116-capped Belgium international has enjoyed an incredible career in the game.

Hazard has bagged 165 goals and 154 assists in 600 career games for Lille, Chelsea and Real Madrid combined (Transfermarkt).

The 30-year-old has won four league titles, an FA Cup, a Carabao Cup and two Europa League trophies during his time in the game.

The former Chelsea ace isn’t the player he once was though.

West Ham fans react to links with Eden Hazard…

Most Hammers fans don’t want the Belgian at the London Stadium. Imagine if you would have said that two years ago! You would have been laughed at and sent for a check up from the neck up.

Such has been Hazard’s fall from grace in Madrid though, and West Ham’s recent rise to prominence, suggesting that he wouldn’t get in our team is actually a fair shout.
