West Ham United reportedly could miss out on Matteo Guendouzi to Aston Villa this summer.

According to a report from Téléfoot, Aston Villa are ‘ready to welcome’ West Ham target Matteo Guendouzi to Villa Park in the summer transfer window.

The East London outfit have been heavily linked with a move to bring the 24-year-old midfielder back to the Premier League before the start of next season – most recently just a couple of months ago.

Hammers manager David Moyes is desperate to bolster his central midfield ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

Téléfoot claim that the Marseille midfielder is firmly on the radar of the Villans this summer.

The 24-year-old Frenchman made his name with Arsenal before leaving the Emirates to join Marseille on a permanent deal last summer, having spent the previous campaign with the Ligue 1 outfit.

And now it seems like the midfielder could be set for a return the Premier League. Will he be plying his trade in East London or the West Midlands though?

Firstly I have to say that the former Arsenal man is nowhere near good enough to replace Declan Rice on his own.

However, he is a very good footballer, and would be a useful addition for us, if Moyes brings in someone else like Joao Palhinha or Sofyan Amrabat alongside the Frenchman.

He has been described as an ‘incredibly progressive’ player, and a very good passer of the football (Breaking the Lines).

The Marseille ace has energy and stamina in abundance and is very tenacious in the tackle. He has already proven that he’s suited to the intense nature of Premier League football during his time with Arsenal.

I think he’d be a smart addition by Moyes. However, Aston Villa’s interest in signing Matteo Guendouzi will obviously represent a problem for West Ham.
