Luis Enrique is a surprise managerial target for West Ham, if David Moyes is either moved on or leaves of his own accord this summer.

According to Tuttomercatoweb’s chief editor Marco Conterio, Luis Enrique is on the West Ham radar, should David Moyes leave the London Stadium.

However, after guiding the Hammers to safety and an incredible Europa Conference League triumph, it would be incredibly harsh to move him on.

That said, he has been linked with the vacant Celtic manager’s job (Scottish Sun). And if the Scot did move to Glasgow, West Ham allegedly have an incredibly ambitious appointment in mind…

West Ham eyeing shock move for Luis Enrique if David Moyes leaves

The 53-year-old is apparently on the Hammers’ radar, should Moyes move on before the start of next season.

Tuttomercatoweb’s chief editor Marco Conterio tweeted:

Enrique has had incredible success during his time in football management, winning nine major trophies – two La Liga titles, three Copa del Reys, a Champions League, a Spanish Super Cup, a UEFA Super Cup and a FIFA Club World Cup.

The Spaniard is one of the most highly decorated football managers in the game.

However, he has been out of work since losing his job as Spain manager after their exit from the World Cup out in Qatar.

West Ham appointing Luis Enrique in place of David Moyes seems highly unlikely, but the pull of the Premier League cannot be underestimated.

And with the Tottenham and Chelsea vacancies now having been filled, it wouldn’t be completely outside the realms of possibility for the 53-year-old Spaniard to take charge at the London Stadium.

That said, I don’t think it will happen. I fully expect Moyes to be in charge come the start of the 2023/24 season.
