West Ham dealt Crysencio Summerville blow and Tim Steidten will be furious

West Ham United director of football Tim Steidten keeps hitting dead ends in his transfer pursuits this summer it seems.

Leeds ace Crysencio Summerville is someone who’s been on the radar of Tim Steidten all summer long, and it was recently claimed that the Hammers are firmly in talks to bring him to the London Stadium.

West Ham are in desperate need of a right-footed left winger full of pace and power this summer – someone who is better and more robust than Said Benrahma.

The Algerian left to join Lyon on a permanent deal this summer, and now Julen Lopetegui doesn’t have a natural left wing option.

Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta are wasted playing out there as far as I’m concerned, they’re both so much better when they operate centrally.

Another issue we face is that our forward line desperately lacks any kind of pace. In the Premier League these days, a speedy forward line is a prerequisite for success.

Summerville is the man for the job as far as I’m concerned.

The Leeds star’s explosive pace would offer us a real outlet that we don’t currently possess, and if he is available this summer, he undoubtedly should be a priority transfer target for Lopetegui.

The Leeds star is hot property this summer it seems, after his brilliant campaign for the Whites last season.

Summerville would improve the Hammers as a team overnight, what with his pace, direct playing style and output inside the final third.

It seems like this one will be a transfer that is incredibly hard to get over the line this summer though.

A new claim has emerged regarding West Ham’s stance on Summerville, and Leeds’ demands for him.

talkSPORT claim that West Ham are on the verge of pulling out of the race to sign Summerville due to Leeds’ £40 million demands for him.

The Hammers are said to be prepared to pay around £20 million to bring the 22-year-old to the London Stadium.

Steidten must be getting concerned now that so many of his targets are proving to be unattainable.

First it was Jhon Duran who was too costly, then the likes of Federico Chiesa and Noussair Mazraoui apparently rejected us.

Crysencio Summerville would be a fantastic signing for West Ham, and I love the fact that Tim Steidten is identifying players like him.

However, I do think that £40 million is too much money.

That said, he bagged an impressive 21 goals and 10 assists in 49 appearances for Leeds United last season, and if he could replicate anything like that at the London Stadium he’d be well worth the money.

Maybe if West Ham and Leeds meet somewhere in the middle at around the £30 million mark then it would be a decent deal for both clubs.
