West Ham United midfielder James Ward-Prowse has been very impressed indeed by one of his teammates this summer.
James Ward-Prowse only joined West Ham last summer, and he enjoyed a decent debut campaign with the Hammers.
Whilst the 29-year-old registered plenty of goals and assists, there is an argument to be made that he is somewhat of a one-trick pony, and that his ability from set-pieces papered over a lot of the cracks.
However, it could also be argued that he’ll be far better suited playing for a team that keeps hold of the football more often than they’re out of possession.
A lot has changed since he first moved to the London Stadium, with Julen Lopetegui now having replaced David Moyes in charge of the club.
The fact that we have a new manager is a huge boost for those players who were on the fringes of David Moyes’s squad last season.
And the same can be said for those who are still yet to play for us in a competitive match…
James Ward-Prowse impressed by one West Ham player
The Hammers midfielder is working hard during pre-season training in order to impress the new head coach.
However, it seems as though he’s actually been impressed by one of his teammates – someone who hasn’t even played a competitive game for us yet.

The Athletic claim that Ward-Prowse told them that he’s been really impressed by Andy Irving during pre-season training.
Ex-West Ham boss David Moyes signed the midfielder from SK Austria Klagenfurt on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2023, and then immediately loaned him back to the Austrian club.
Sky Sports Austria claimed that the Hammers paid around £3 million to sign the Scottish midfielder.
And Irving openly admitted earlier this year that it is his dream to play for the Hammers first-team next season.
Some may think that’s an unrealistic dream, but the Scot is definitely trying his best to get noticed.
The 24-year-old really impressed during our pre-season friendly clash with Dagenham and Redbridge on Saturday, and scored a superb goal from outside the box.
Does he have any kind of future at West Ham though?
That remains to be seen, but what is certain is that he’s caught the eye of his West Ham teammate James Ward-Prowse during pre-season training.
Has he done the same to Lopetegui though? Only time will tell regarding that.
