West Ham United may well be on the cusp of an exciting new era under Julen Lopetegui, and Vladimir Coufal has shared something he’s already noticed about our new Head Coach.

Vladimir Coufal joined West Ham way back in October 2020 from Slavia Prague for around £5 million, and now he’s set to embark on a new chapter under the guidance of Julen Lopetegui.

The Czech Republic international has been an extremely solid player for the Hammers over the past four years.

However, there is a real argument to be made that he’s well past his best now, and Lopetegui reportedly could make an upgrade on him by signing Raoul Bellanova this summer.

That said, Coufal definitely won’t give up his place without a fight, and he’s undoubtedly someone who will be a useful squad player for us, even if Lopetegui does bring in a new right-back.

The former Slavia Prague man seems to be very excited indeed about life under Lopetegui, and he has lifted the lid on something extremely positive about the West Ham head coach’s methods…

Vladimir Coufal makes exciting Julen Lopetegui admission

The 31-year-old right-back is clearly buzzing to be part of an exciting new era under Lopetegui at West Ham.

The Hammers squad are currently out in Florida for two pre-season friendly games against Wolves and Crystal Palace respectively.

Coufal is one of the players who’ve only recently joined up with the West Ham camp for pre-season preparations.

And the Hammers defender sat down to speak to the club’s official website about Lopetegui’s immediate impact at West Ham.

“We have a new style and hopefully we can be successful with the new manager,” he observed. “This is only my third day here and from the sessions I can see it is very intense, the manager wants to play really high, he wants to press and he wants to be on the ball the majority of the time, so it’s perfect and hopefully the boys will like it as well as me.”

“I love to press high, I love to do everything as a positive person, and that’s exactly what can suit me and I believe it will, so we can call it a new style of football and we can see a new West Ham, Coufal continued.

How refreshing is that to hear! After years of seeing our team operate so passively, and allowing the opposition to dominate possession, it seems like things are about to change.

I guarantee you one thing, Lopetegui’s preferred playing style will see that the atmosphere at the London Stadium improves overnight.

It’s incredibly hard to generate a raucous atmosphere when your team sets up with 11 men behind the ball, and thrives on moments from set-pieces.

Vladimir Coufal has noticed a huge change in the playing style that Julen Lopetegui wants to implement after just three training sessions.

Hopefully all of the players buy into it and the Hammers fans see not only a better and more attractive playing style, but some real success on the pitch as well.
