Andy Irving has suggested that it is his dream to play in the Premier League with West Ham United.

Premier League side West Ham signed Andy Irving from SK Austria Klagenfurt on transfer deadline day in the summer, and then immediately loaned him back to the Austrian outfit.

The 23-year-old midfielder joined the Hammers as part of a link up between the East London outfit and SK Austria Klagenfurt.

The former Hearts man’s loan deal with the Austrian side is up at the end of the season, so what does the future hold for him?

It’s very clear where Irving wants to play his football next season, but that decision won’t solely be down to him. David Moyes already has a wealth of top quality central midfield options, but it seems as though the 23-year-old is still holding out hope of a future at the London Stadium…

23-year-old says his dream is to play for West Ham in the Premier League

Irving has been speaking about his season so far with SK Austria Klagenfurt.

And the Scot explained how his dream is to play Premier League football at some point with the Hammers, as quoted by LAOLA1:

“It’s the best league [Premier League] in the world. I followed it when I was six or seven years old. There’s still a lot to work on and improve on me. Maybe then I can fulfil my dream.”

Irving can dream about playing in the Premier League, of course he can. That doesn’t mean that it’s a realistic goal for him though.

I just can’t see the Scotsman reaching the levels required to play for West Ham in the Premier League, although it goes without saying that I’d be happy to be proved wrong.

I wish Irving all the best in his future endeavours, but I just can’t envisage a scenario whereby we actually ever see him in the famous Claret and Blue strip.
