West Ham United are said to be eyeing a move to sign a proven striker in the summer transfer window.
Julen Lopetegui has obviously identified the signing of a new striker as his main priority before the new season starts.
The West Ham head coach has only two strikers amongst his ranks at the London Stadium right now – Michail Antonio and Danny Ings.
The former is well past his best now and has lost his explosive pace whilst the latter’s best days are behind him as well.
In order for Lopetegui to take West Ham to another level, getting the signing of a proven striker wrapped up before the start of the new season will be pivotal.
The Hammers chief needs someone to act as a focal point for his team, and Jhon Duran is obviously his main target.
However, the Spaniard seems to be lining up alternative targets to the Colombian as well, as he should be doing…
Niclas Fullkrug is now a West Ham striker target
According to a report from Sky Sports, West Ham are now eyeing a move to sign Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Interestingly, the Hammers were actually linked with a move to sign the 31-year-old last summer as well, before he joined Dortmund from Werder Bremen.
The Germany international has been a very decent striker throughout his career.
Fullkrug has played 438 career games for club and country and has bagged 172 goals – not the best return but one goal every 2.5 games certainly isn’t bad either.
However, he is 31 now. Surely moving to the Premier League from the Bundesliga at that age would be a massive challenge?
Lopetegui should be targeting someone younger in my opinion. Niclas Fullkrug doesn’t possess any kind of pace whatsoever, and has enjoyed most of his success when playing for teams who control the ball.
Sure, he’s proven at the very highest level, but not in the Premier League.
As far as I’m concerned, West Ham shouldn’t make a move for Dortmund striker Niclas Fullkrug this summer.
I would much rather see us sign Ivan Toney, Jhon Duran or Jonathan David.
