Jhon Duran almost certain to join West Ham as surprise Aston Villa training photo emerges

Jhon Duran will almost certainly join West Ham this summer after a surprise picture emerged from an Aston Villa training session.

West Ham have been chasing the signing of Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran over the past few weeks, and it has been reported that we’ve even agreed personal terms with the Colombia international.

Then just a couple of days ago, the 20-year-old set tongues wagging when he posted a video of himself doing the ‘crossed Hammers’ sign.

It has been claimed that West Ham’s move to sign Duran is currently off because Villa are demanding £40 million, and we’re only willing to pay £32 million.

However, the Hammers are allegedly still weighing up an increased bid for the fleet-footed Villans ace (Evening Standard).

Now, I think Villa have dropped a major hint that Duran could be off. Whether he will join West Ham or not is another matter entirely of course…

Jhon Duran saga takes twist after Aston Villa training snap emerges

Firstly, it’s worth noting that there are still 33 days remaining until the summer transfer window slams shut.

I think the deal for the Hammers to bring Duran to the London Stadium from Villa Park still has legs in it.

My prediction is that Villa and West Ham will meet somewhere in the middle, and the Colombian will move to East London for around £35-36 million, with a hefty sell-on clause included in the deal.

Whether that would be good value for the Hammers is up for debate, but it does seem like a deal is there to be done.

I believe that the west Midlands outfit have already made it very clear that Duran will not be at the club beyond the end of the summer window.

And the reason for that is because of a picture involving their £50 million summer signing Amadou Onana.

The 22-year-old midfielder was snapped during training with the Aston Villa first-team:

Notice anything interesting about the above picture? To be fair, many may have missed it.

Well, it’s all about his shirt number – 24…the number that Jhon Duran wore for Aston Villa last season.

Now, of course it could mean that the 20-year-old is changing squad numbers, but with everything that’s gone on over the past few weeks, the above picture tells its own story.

It’s not like 24 is Onana’s favourite number or anything – he hasn’t worn it at any club he’s been with throughout his career.

I firmly believe that Duran will be West Ham bound this summer. It will just be a matter of how long the two clubs take to agree upon a fee.
