West Ham are keen to sign FC Basel striker Arthur Cabral in January according to a report from Goal Brasil.
Hammers boss David Moyes will be very keen to bolster his centre-forward ranks at the London Stadium in January.
West Ham desperately need to bring in more competition and cover for Michail Antonio.
We are still fighting for trophies on four fronts! And having one striker is just not good enough for a club with our aspirations.
It seems as though Moyes may have a plan up his sleeve to rectify that particular issue though.
West Ham chasing Arthur Cabral
Goal Brasil reckon that the Hammers have already initiated contact regarding a move to sign the South American in January.
And what an exciting addition he could be for West Ham.
The 23-year-old Brazilian has been on fire for Basel this season, bagging 24 goals and eight assists in just 25 games in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Cabral has a £17 million release clause but is actually available for just £12.7 million according to Goal Brasil.
One huge worry for the Hammers is that Basel was the club that we signed Albian Ajeti from in the summer of 2019. The Swiss hitman did really well before he joined West Ham.
He was a complete flop at the London Stadium, however. It is clear to see that success in the Swiss league doesn’t necessarily translate into success in the Premier League.
It must be said though, Cabral seems to be a cut above Ajeti. He’s energetic, dynamic, possesses real pace and is an exemplary finisher.
£12.7 million for the Brazilian seems like very good value as well.
Let’s hope we manage to get this one done. Cabral could be a huge hit at the London Stadium.
