An unexpected twist has cleared the path for West Ham to sign jet-heeled £25m star Terem Moffi thanks to their ex striker target.

Earlier this week on Hammers News we carried reports that West Ham’s signing of Danny Ings would not impact the club’s desire to bring in rapid Lorient forward Moffi in this window.

The Moffi move has been something of a saga with West Ham appearing to be fighting a losing battle to Nice.

Earlier this week journalist Alan Nixon claimed West Ham’s reported £20m plus move for Moffi was now ‘all down to wages’.

A French journalist had claimed Moffi had chosen to sign for Nice over West Ham.

There was a further development regarding the 23-year-old hitman – who is second in the list of Ligue 1 top scorers this season with 12 goals, just one behind superstar Kylian Mbappe – when it was revealed Nice had upped their bid to £17.5m.

There was a clear indication that Moffi is out on his way out Lorient this weekend when it was left out of their squad to face Bastia.

Now an unexpected twist has cleared the path for West Ham to sign jet-heeled £25m star Moffi thanks to an ex striker target.

One of the reasons David Moyes is trying to sign Moffi is because he was snubbed by Sevilla forward Youssef En-Nesyri.

Speaking to Spanish outlet Cadena SER following a bid from West Ham for his services earlier this month, En-Nesyri was grateful for the interest but vowed to stay and help his struggling side.

But overnight it has been announced that En-Nesyri is set to sign for Nice who appear to have given up on Moffi.

That means – ironically – that the path is now clear for the Hammers to land the young Nigerian ace.

With Nice out of the picture and Lorient willing sellers there should be no obstacles to getting a deal done.

And that it also what French publication Mercato Plein are reporting overnight, claiming a deal has been done at €24 million (£21 million).

Moffi is just what West Ham need to rejuvenate their stale attack.

He is second in the list of Ligue 1 top scorers this season with 12 goals, just one behind superstar Kylian Mbappe.

The forward is powerful, quick and athletic. In fact his athleticism is highlighted by his goal celebration, which sees him somersault through the air like a gymnast.
