There is plenty of West Ham transfer news flying about right now, and some of the rumours are extremely exciting as deadline day closes in.
Graham Potter has already made an impact in his role as West Ham head coach, but it’s clear to see that he needs to strengthen his squad at the London Stadium.
The good news is that following the arrival of recruitment guru Kyle Macaulay from Chelsea, the Hammers transfer business is now expected to explode into life.
The January transfer window absolutely has to yield at least two new signings for West Ham, as far as I’m concerned.
It could be argued that we have the weakest squad in the Premier League, after failed rebuild attempts from both David Moyes and Julen Lopetegui.
Hopefully Potter will be equipped with the tools to change all of that before the January transfer window slams shut.

With Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio both out with long-term injuries, signing a top-class striker will be pivotal to Potter’s hopes of overseeing real improvement at the London Stadium.
We need more energy, power and athleticism in the middle of the park as well. We haven’t had that for 18 months now since Declan Rice left us in the summer of 2023.
Thankfully, that could all be about to change, with the Hammers eyeing up some seriously exciting transfer moves before Monday’s deadline.
Most exciting West Ham transfer news and rumours
There have been numerous names linked with the Hammers so far during the January transfer window.
Here are the seven most exciting players who are reportedly on West Ham’s radar.
Nicolo Fagioli
The Juventus star is said to be on the Hammers’ radar, with a loan with an option to buy deal being mooted. Fagioli would take us to another level in the middle of the park with his energy and technical ability.
Baris Alper Yilmaz
This one will be more likely to happen in the summer, but it’s an exciting link nonetheless. West Ham have allegedly made a £25 million bid for Yilmaz – one that was rejected by Galatasaray. However, the Turkish giants have allegedly promised the 24-year-old that he will be allowed to join the Hammers in the summer.
Carney Chukwuemeka
The £40 million-rated Chelsea midfielder is said to be firmly on West Ham’s radar this winter. The 20-year-old would be an incredible signing for the Hammers, with his pace, power, athleticism and quality in possession.
Evan Ferguson
West Ham boss Graham Potter is said to be our secret weapon in the race to sign Ferguson from Brighton this month (Telegraph). Despite his struggles over the past 12 months, the 20-year-old is an elite number nine in the making, and he’d be a fine addition for us.
Evann Guessand
The Nice hitman is a truly elite forward, and West Ham are said to be closely monitoring his situation heading towards deadline day. The 23-year-old striker is an absolute powerhouse and is perfectly suited to playing Premier League football.
Ezechiel Banzuzi

The OH Leuven midfielder is the player we should be prioritising this month. West Ham are said to have made a £13 million bid for the 19-year-old. Let’s hope that the Hammers are able to wrap up a deal to sign the powerful teenager before the January transfer window slams shut.
Brian Brobbey
The Dutch forward has struggled for goals this season, but his return of 18 in 30 Eredivisie games for Ajax last season proves that he is an incredibly talented young striker. West Ham have apparently already made a bid for Brobbey. The 22-year-old has pace and power in abundance and would be the ideal man to lead the line for this Hammers team under Potter.
West Ham must turn transfer news and rumours into done deals
Including today, there are only six days remaining until the transfer window slams shut.
So now the Hammers recruitment team really have to get down to business.
Potter has already shown us what he’s capable of, but he’s no miracle worker, and he needs some help.
The additions of a powerful central midfield ball-carrier and a proven striker are absolute necessities if you ask me.
However, I really feel like Potter needs to bring a top-class centre-back to the London Stadium as well.
It might be impossible for the Hammers to make all three of those signings before Monday’s deadline, but we must get at least two of them done if Potter is to guide us to a successful second half of the season.
The fact is that we need more competition and cover if we are to compete even for a top 10 finish in the Premier League table this season.
The West Ham transfer news and rumours doing the rounds is all very exciting. However, the club really need to push through some deals now, or at least make concrete moves for some of Potter’s top targets.
