West Ham United are said to be pushing hard to sign an exceptional player in the January window before deadline day.

Graham Potter has to get a couple of new signings over the line for West Ham before the January transfer window slams shut.

With deadline day fast approaching, the Hammers had better get down to business quickly.

Annoyingly for West Ham, we are actually playing away at Chelsea on transfer deadline day.

However, our transfer business should now be well underway after the arrival of Kyle Macaulay.

Potter needs to bring a new striker and a powerful central midfielder to the London Stadium before the window closes as a bare minimum.

There are plenty of options out there for West Ham.

And it seems like Potter wants one man in particular.

West Ham want £40m star before January window deadline day

The Hammers are allegedly chasing a signing that would really appease the fans.

Potter needs some help if he is to achieve his goals at the London Stadium.

The addition of a powerful central midfielder should be right at the top of his wish-list.

And now it seems like he’s determined to add someone with not just raw power and athleticism to his engine room, but real quality as well.

According to a report from The Daily Mail, West Ham are now pushing hard to sign Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka.

Chelsea are allegedly demanding his full £40 million release clause, but the Hammers want to sign him on loan.

It was claimed a couple of weeks ago that Potter wants Chukwuemeka to be one of his first signings at the London Stadium.

The 21-year-old would be a sensational addition for the Hammers.

Carney Chukwuemeka is perfect for West Ham

Chukwuemeka has absolutely everything that we are crying out for in the middle of the park right now.

He possesses pace and power in abundance, has incredible athleticism and stamina and is technically proficient.

The ball-carrying ability he would bring to our setup would be priceless – that’s something we’ve lacked since Declan Rice left in 2023.

Chukwuemeka has been described as an ‘unbelievable’ player by Marcus Bettinelli (Chelsea’s YouTube channel).

The former Aston Villa man would add so much dynamism to the Hammers’ engine room, and he has the potential to go on and become truly world-class.

I think we should be going all out to sign him this month.

Carney Chukwuemeka has played only 130 minutes of football in all competitions so far this season, so a move to West Ham is needed for him in the January transfer window.

Let’s just hope that Chelsea will be willing to allow West Ham to take the midfielder on a loan with an option to buy deal.

Because I just can’t see the Hammers owners splashing out £40 million for the 21-year-old before deadline day.
