West Ham have just lodged a quite absurd January transfer window bid for lightning quick striker

I’m really hoping that the West Ham United owners aren’t up to their old tricks again in the January window.

We all remember what happened in the January transfer window this time last year, when West Ham allowed Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma to leave, without bringing any new signings to the London Stadium.

Surely that won’t happen this time around with Graham Potter now at the helm, flanked by recruitment guru Kyle Macaulay.

It has been claimed that the Hammers’ transfer business will now kick into gear, after the arrival of Macaulay.

There are still eight days remaining until the window slams shut, but the sooner we bring in some new faces the better.

The additions of a rapid striker and a powerful box-to-box central midfielder will be of paramount importance for West Ham.

Potter will be fully aware of that.

He seems to have targeted Brian Brobbey and Ezechiel Banzuzi as his top two transfer targets in January.

West Ham make January transfer window bid for rapid striker

The Hammers are believed to be very keen on signing Brian Brobbey from Ajax in the January window.

Brobbey is said to be very keen to join the Hammers this month, so there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be able to get this one done.

However, a slightly concerning claim has just emerged from Brobbey’s homeland.

According to a report from Dutch media outlet Voetbal Primeur, the Hammers have made a ‘ridiculous’ bid for the Dutchman.

Quite what that means exactly is unclear, but it doesn’t sound good does it!

Now the task for the West Ham owners is clear – get a deal done for the Ajax forward at all costs.

No silly games, just bring him to the London Stadium and I promise you, he would transform us overnight, whether or not he scores regularly.

Brian Brobbey is perfect for West Ham

The 22-year-old has absolutely everything we need at the London Stadium.

His pace is explosive and his raw power and athleticism seems to be custom built for Premier League football.

People need to stop highlighting the fact that he has bagged just three goals for Ajax this season. Brobbey has seven assists to his name as well by the way.

He’s only 22 for crying out loud. Last season he racked up 22 goals and 12 assists in 43 games (Transfermarkt), so his talent and ability is obvious to see.

Progress is very seldom linear for young strikers – another Hammers target Evan Ferguson is a great example of that.

Brian Brobbey is the perfect striker West Ham, there’s no doubt in my mind about that.

Now it’s time for the West Ham owners to get a deal done for the Dutchman in the January transfer window.

Just no more derisory bids please!
