West Ham United are still trying really hard to sign Hans Vanaken, in spite of their recent acquisition of Lucas Paqueta.
That’s according to a report from Het Nieuwsblad who claim that the Hammers are not giving up on bringing the 30-year-old to the London Stadium this summer.

And it was suggested that he could now be picked up for as little as €15 million (£13 million).

David Moyes has just brought Lucas Paqueta to West Ham but it seems as though that won’t stop the Scot from bringing in further attacking midfield reinforcements before deadline day…
West Ham still trying to sign Hans Vanaken
Het Nieuwsblad reckon that the Hammers aren’t giving up on signing the 30-year-old just yet.
We have to say, signing Vanaken after having brought Paqueta to the London Stadium would be somewhat of a strange move.
We’ve repeatedly insisted that the Belgian midfielder is far from our first choice. That’s not to say that he isn’t a good player though.
The Belgian bagged 16 goals and seven assists in 45 games in the 2020/21 season and racked up 15 goals and 12 assists in 50 outings last term (Transfermarkt).

Standing at 6ft 5in tall, Vanaken is a real unit and has the kind of physicality needed to succeed in the Premier League.
There is one problem as far as we’re concerned though. The Club Brugge midfielder is 30 now. That obviously doesn’t correlate with the Red Bull Model that David Moyes supposedly wants to implement at the London Stadium.
Moving to the Premier League from the Belgian league and succeeding is a tough ask for anybody. Let alone someone who is 30.
If David Moyes really wants to bring Hans Vanaken to West Ham this summer though, we will back his decision 100%.
