Hammers boss David Moyes has history of bringing talented young Irish players to the London Stadium, with the likes of Patrick Kelly and Callum Marshall having moved to the club over the past 12 months.

West Ham have apparently already agreed a deal to sign talented Cliftonville youngster Sean Moore as well.

And it seems as though Moyes has yet another highly-rated young Irishman on his radar ahead of the summer transfer window…

The Telegraph reckon that the Hammers are taking big steps to bring the 17-year-old central midfielder to East London from Cork.

Despite his age, he has made 11 senior appearances for Cork City this season, bagging two goals in the process (Transfermarkt).

O’Brien-Whitmarsh actually spent a trial period with West Ham back in 2021, and the club have been keeping tabs on him ever since.

The Irish teenager is a really exciting young talent, and it’s great to see the Hammers adding to our youth squad with such regularity.

The Cork starlet has been described as sensational by Football Report and they’re not wrong. He has technical ability in abundance and impressive energy and stamina levels for someone so young. He is obviously still very raw and rough around the edges, but certainly has the potential to make it at the very highest level.

If West Ham manage to beat Tottenham to the signing of Joe O’Brien-Whitmarsh in the summer transfer window then I’ll be absolutely delighted.
