West Ham are eyeing up a move to sign our old nemesis Djibril Sow as a replacement for Declan Rice.

Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Djibril Sow is on the radar of West Ham boss David Moyes as a potential replacement for Declan Rice, according to a report from The Sun.

Rice, 24, has been heavily linked with a move to leave the London Stadium this summer, with Arsenal leading the race for his signature.

Losing Dec will obviously be a massive blow for West Ham, but signing a top-class replacement will be key to making the transition seamless.

Djibril Sow is someone who the Hammers have been linked with before. And now it seems as though Moyes is ready to bring the Switzerland international to East London…

West Ham eyeing up Declan Rice replacement

Hammers head of recruitment Rob Newman has been scouting Sow this season, according to The Sun, most recently last weekend during Eintracht Frankfurt’s clash with Borussia Dortmund.

And with just over a year left on the 26-year-old’s deal with the German club, he allegedly could be available for around £20 million this summer.

I would absolutely love Sow at the London Stadium. Let’s get one thing clear though – he should not be viewed as a direct replacement for Declan Rice.

If Moyes brings him to West Ham alongside another central midfielder like Ibrahim Sangare or Khéphren Thuram then I will be absolutely delighted.

Sow was absolutely superb for Frankfurt during our Europa League semi-final clash last season, and played a key role in his side making it through to the final.

The 26-year-old was a constant thorn in West Ham’s side with his brilliant technique, impressive engine, superb passing of the football and his tenacious tackling.

In 28 Bundesliga appearances so far this season, the 26-year-old has bagged four goals. During those outings, Sow has averaged 1.4 tackles, one interception and one clearance per game (Who Scored).

Sow is a real all-rounder and is an archetypal central midfielder. He seems to be perfectly suited to the robust and intense nature of Premier League football.

If we manage to sell Rice for somewhere around £100 million and bring in Sow for £20 million and another top-class midfielder for £40-50 million, then I think we’ll be in a great position heading into next season.
