Craig Dawson is set to join Wolves from West Ham United with Jan Bednarek coming in to replace him on deadline day.

That’s according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook who claims that the Hammers will sign Bednarek after reluctantly allowing Dawson, 32, to join Wolves.

West Ham boss David Moyes has been a really busy man in the transfer market this summer.

The Scot has already brought eight major signings into the London Stadium.

Two of those new signings have been central defenders – Nayef Aguerd and Thilo Kehrer.

Dawson’s impending exit from the club was unexpected though, and as a result, Moyes has been forced to sign another central defender…

West Ham to sign Bednarek as Dawson replacement on deadline day

The 26-year-old Southampton centre-back is all set to become Moyes’s ninth signing of what has been a manic transfer window for the club, with a huge turnaround of players.

We actually think that the Saints defender will be a useful addition for the Hammers.

The 42-capped Poland international is allegedly available for around £13 million.

It remains to be seen whether West Ham sign him for that amount or perhaps just bring him in on loan instead.

He was in the top 10 in the Premier League for both interceptions and clearances last season (Premier League’s official website).

In 31 Premier league appearances last term, Bednarek averaged one tackle, 2.3 interceptions, 4.5 clearances and 2.9 successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

During those outings, he made 46.6 passes on average per match and recorded a completion rate of 81.7% (Who Scored).

He has been described as a ‘brick wall’ by The Athletic. Meanwhile, BT Sport have labelled him as ‘outstanding’.

Moyes is fairly well covered in the centre-back department. With Angelo Ogbonna ageing and Dawson on his way though, signing the Southampton defender would be a smart move.

We’ll be more than happy if Moyes brings Bednarek to West Ham on deadline day.
