Leicester City now want to sign West Ham United defender Craig Dawson before the transfer window slams shut this summer.

That’s according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon (via his Patreon on 30 August) who claims that Leicester have made an enquiry for the West Ham man with a view to bringing him to the King Power Stadium as a replacement for Wesley Fofana.

Rumours began to circulate a few days ago that Dawson is keen to leave the London Stadium this summer, and move closer to his home in Manchester.

Aston Villa and Wolves are the two clubs who have been linked with the 32-year-old Hammers centre-back.

It seems as though another team from the Midlands have entered the race now though…

Leicester eyeing Craig Dawson swoop

The Sun journalist Alan Nixon (via his Patreon on 30 August) claims that the Foxes have enquired about bringing the 32-year-old Hammers centre-back to the King Power Stadium this summer.

Dawson originally joined the Hammers on a season-long loan from Watford in October 2020 at a cost of just £1 million. West Ham then made his move to the London Stadium a permanent one for a further £3 million in the summer of 2021 (The Sun).

£4 million for the no-nonsense, tough-tackling centre-back now seems like an absolute bargain.

Daws has established himself as a cult hero at West Ham but he’s actually a lot more than that. He’s a very good good defender, and labelling him as a cult hero really doesn’t do him justice.

He has been described as an ‘immense’ centre-back by the Evening Standard.

Meanwhile, Declan Rice once labelled Dawson as a machine.

Craig Dawson is absolutely adored by the West Ham fans, so losing him to Leicester would be somewhat of a blow.

If he genuinely does want to leave though, we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
