Craig Dawson is currently unhappy at West Ham United with Aston Villa keen to prise him away from the London Stadium.

That’s according to a report from The Daily Mail who claim that the 32-year-old feels as though his chances of regular first-team football with the Hammers this season will be limited following the arrivals of Thilo Kehrer and Nayef Aguerd.

News emerged over the weekend that Dawson is a transfer target for Aston Villa this summer, with Steven Gerrard determined to bolster his centre-back ranks before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday.

The 32-year-old hasn’t played a competitive game for West Ham so far this season, with an ongoing thigh problem causing him issues.

When he is back fit though, it’s hard to see a way back into the starting XI for him. Thilo Kehrer, Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna are all currently ahead of him in the pecking order and Nayef Aguerd undoubtedly will be as well when he returns from injury.

And it seems as though Dawson’s days at the London Stadium could well be numbered…

Craig Dawson unhappy at West Ham

The 32-year-old centre-back is keen to move away from the Hammers in order to guarantee more regular first-team action this season, according to a report from The Daily Mail.

However, it is suggested by The Mail that David Moyes wants to keep Dawson at the London Stadium.

Dawson, 32, originally joined the Hammers on a season-long loan from Watford in October 2020 at a cost of just £1 million. West Ham then made his move to the London Stadium a permanent one for a further £3 million in the summer of 2021 (The Sun).

£4 million for the no-nonsense, tough-tackling centre-back now seems like an absolute bargain.

Daws has established himself as a cult hero at West Ham but he’s actually a lot more than that. He’s a very good good defender, and labelling him as a cult hero really doesn’t do him justice.

He has been described as an ‘immense’ centre-back by the Evening Standard.

And Craig Dawson is absolutely adored by the West Ham fans.

However, the 32-year-old could be on his way out of the London Stadium this summer it seems. And if he genuinely does want to leave, we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
