A journalist claims West Ham already have a January striker signing lined up after continuing talks over PSG outcast Hugo Ekitike.
As reported on Hammers News the day after the window closed, a report in France claimed West Ham made a last ditch bid to finally sign Hugo Ekitike from PSG.
Just before 5pm on deadline day Hammers News spoke to our top source inside West Ham and were told any arrivals were “unlikely” as the club were linked with moves for a striker.
And so it proved.
But it was not for the want of trying with a French journalist claiming the Hammers reactivated their attempts to sign Ekitike just before 9pm on deadline day.

The deal never materialised, though, and Ekitike – who West Ham wanted to sign when he was at Reims – remained at PSG where he has seen just nine minutes of Ligue 1 action so far this season.
That does not appear to be the end of the story when it comes to Ektike and West Ham, though, it seems.
Because a journalist claims West Ham already have a January striker signing lined up after continuing talks over PSG outcast Ekitike since the window closed.
Both Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen can play up front if needed but aren’t out and out strikers. And Danny Ings has failed to establish himself since joining in January.
Michail Antonio remains the first choice starting forward and he turns 34 in March.
Reporter quoted ‘well placed source’ as West Ham ‘primed to agree striker signing’
So West Ham do need to bring in a new striker for the medium to long term sooner rather than later.
According to reporter Pete O’Rourke that man will be Ekitike in January.
Writing on Football Insider, O’Rourke claims “a well placed source” has told him David Moyes wants to sign a striker in January.
And he claims sources have told him the Hammers are ‘primed to agree the signing of Ekitike’ after his efforts proved fruitless for the jet-heeled Frenchman and other forwards in the summer.
This is yet another story from Football Insider and their reporters on West Ham signing Ekitike.
Given the Hammers have been linked with the 21-year-old for the best part of two years, we won’t be holding our breath.
Steidten did reportedly hold talks with PSG and Ekitike’s representatives but time will tell on this one
At the end of the day Ekitike has been told he is not wanted at PSG and there is plenty of game time on offer at West Ham given the club are set for another 50-match plus season.
So if West Ham and Moyes really wanted him, it surely wouldn’t have been a difficult deal to get over the line.
His pace would undoubtedly be a major asset for a team like West Ham who are very much playing on the counter attack again this season.
Technical director Tim Steidten did reportedly hold face-to-face talks with PSG and Ekitike’s representatives in the summer and they were impressed by what he had to say.
So perhaps O’Rourke may well be onto something with this one. Time will tell.
