Tim Steidten had a high level meeting in France last night to discuss a hugely exciting West Ham deal claims a journalist.

West Ham’s new technical director Tim Steidten has been a busy man in the last couple of weeks.

After a butting of heads between Steidten and Hammers manager David Moyes initially, frosty relations appear to have thawed.

Certainly enough for some of Steidten’s recommendations to get the green light from Moyes, including Edson Alvarez and imminent arrival Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Hammers prioritise striker signing as new director gets busy

And now Steidten is working on adding a much-needed striker to West Ham’s ranks. A new forward is said to be the priority for the Hammers between now and the close of the summer transfer window.

So details emerging from across The Channel today are very interesting indeed.

Because Steidten had a high level meeting in France last night to discuss a hugely exciting West Ham deal for Hugo Ekitike claims a journalist.

Yesterday RMC Sport claimed PSG striker Ekitike is back on West Ham’s radar after a failed bid to sign him before he joined the Ligue 1 champions from Lorient.

With blistering pace and superb movement, Ekitike – who has been likened to Kylian Mbappe and Thierry Henry – would be ideal for Moyes’ counter-attacking style.

Now West Ham are getting serious about signing him if a new report from France is to be believed.

According to Foot Mercato, West Ham director Steidten held a ‘positive meeting’ with his PSG counterpart Luis Campos over the signing of Ekitike last night.

The report claims PSG want Ekitike out as they look to sign fellow Frenchman Randal Kolo Muani.

Not only are they open to a deal with the Hammers but it is claimed West Ham are willing to meet the undisclosed asking price for the 21-year-old jet-heeled star.

Better still, while in the meeting Steidten presented Ekitike’s representatives with how West Ham planned to play with him in the side and they were suitably impressed.

Off to West Ham Hugo? Ekitike’s representatives impressed by Hammers plan during meeting claims report

“According to our information, a meeting took place between Luis Campos and the technical director of West Ham, Tim Steidten about the number 44 of PSG, author of three goals in 25 Ligue 1 appearances last year,” Foot Mercato reports.

“A frank and very constructive discussion according to our information. The Hammers, who are looking for a striker, have the capacity to align themselves with the salary claims of the former Rémois but also with the amount of the transfer claimed by the club from the capital.

“In parallel with this discussion, the English club presented its game plan for Hugo Ekitike to the player’s representatives who were very receptive to West Ham’s speech.”

If West Ham can someone get Ekitike and Kudus through the door to add to Alvarez, James Ward-Prowse and Mavropanos then they will be looking a serious side.
