A journalist who broke the Lucas Paqueta transfer claims talks are on for a Said Benrahma deal that will change West Ham’s window.

When it comes to transfer windows it’s often difficult for West Ham fans to know what – or who – to believe.

Well someone who does have credit in the bank with the Hammers supporters for reliable news is L’Equipe reporter Hugo Guillemet.

He was the man who first revealed Lucas Paqueta could move from Lyon to West Ham in a record deal in the summer of 2022.

Now he is reporting on Hammers business again so his words carry weight.

As West Ham fans know full well, the club intend to be active in the January transfer window.

But players must be shipped out to clear space in the squad and on the wage bill as well as help raise funds.

“(Lyon sporting director) David Friio continues to try to finalise negotiations on Benrahma and Matic, his two priorities,” Guillemet said.

“And the arrival of Benrahma would not be the last in attack, because OL wanted 3 players in this sector.”

The Hammers are looking to raise around £20m from Benrahma’s sale.

So this could really prove to be a major gateway deal for Tim Steidten and David Moyes as they look to make signings of their own.

Other than Aguerd, Benrahma is hands down the most saleable asset among West Ham’s fringe players.

Getting a decent fee really could bring the window to life for the Hammers.
