Lucas Paqueta has reacted with his first words on signing for West Ham United in a hugely exciting deal for the Hammers.
Yes West Ham fans it is now official, the Hammers have pulled off one of the most exciting transfers for years with the arrival of Brazil international Paqueta from Lyon on a five-year deal – with the option for a further year.
After a roller coaster few days, West Ham have confirmed a club record transfer for the 25-year-old.

Paqueta impressed David Moyes and West Ham’s players after playing against the Hammers for Lyon in last season’s Europa League quarter-final.
West Ham won that particular battle 4-1 on aggregate.
And now they have returned to take one of the kings of Lyon and lure him to the London Stadium.
‘I’m excited to be West Ham’ says Lucas Paqueta as he reacts with first words on signing in a hugely exciting deal.

“I am extremely happy to be here. I hope it’s the beginning of an enjoyable journey. I hope my time here is successful,” said the South American, who will wear the No11 shirt (whufc.com).
“Last season, West Ham had a very good season and I hope they continue to enjoy more and more good seasons in my time at the Club.
“I am excited to pull on the West Ham shirt and show the fans what I can do, to help my team-mates and the Club.”
You can read the full statement on West Ham’s official website.

Paqueta has been the star player of Brazil’s World Cup qualification campaign.
He is a big favourite in his homeland, as he was in France where he was nominated for the Ligue 1 player of the year award.
West Ham boss Moyes recently said he knew he needed to sign more players like Dimitri Payet to continue the rapid progress the Hammers have made over the last two and a half years.

And now the Scot has his man – and then some.
Paqueta can play in a variety of positions in midfield and attack.
South American football oracle Tim Vickery said this week that West Ham should be very excited about Paqueta, describing him as a ‘proper old school Hammers player’ who is worthy of playing for the club of Sir Trevor Brooking.
