A West Ham man who can’t get a look in has absolutely raved about Gianluca Scamacca and says striker has the hardest shot he’s ever seen.
After three consecutive defeats to start the new Premier League season, West Ham go to Aston Villa in search of lift off.
In their Europa Conference League qualifier against Danish side Viborg West Ham have fared better, securing a 6-1 aggregate win over two legs to make the group stage proper.
The big positive from those two games was new £35m striker signing Scamacca.
The Italy international looks every inch a top class striker and there’s a lot of them in his towering 6ft 5in frame.
Scamacca has two goals in two starts for West Ham following the tie against Viborg and his finish over in Denmark was pure quality, a cushioned side foot volley into the net from a ridiculously tight angle at the near post after clever movement in the box to make the space.
He is a world away from the likes of brilliant servant Michail Antonio and West Ham fans are desperate to see Scamacca start at Villa.
Moyes has continued to suggest he will drip-feed the Italian into the action.
But one West Ham man who can’t get a look in has absolutely raved about Scamacca and says striker has the hardest shot he’s ever seen.
‘He’s some player’ is the verdict of Flynn Downes having spent time training with his fellow new West Ham signing.
Speaking to West Ham’s official website, Downes gives Scamacca top billing with comments that will seriously excite fans.
“He’s a very good player, his build-up play, he’s quick, he’s strong, he wins headers, he’s got everything,” Downes told whufc.com.
“Training with him every day as well, you see the ins and outs of what he does.
“Even shooting, he’s got the hardest shot I’ve ever seen, I’ll be honest, I don’t know how he kicks it like that!
“He’s some player.”
Downes’ comments will no doubt add more voices to the calls for Moyes to get Scamacca in the team.
