Premier League legend John Terry spoke out on Declan Rice in a social media post during West Ham United’s win over Aston Villa.
West Ham finally got their first win – and goal – of the season when they beat Aston Villa 1-0 on Sunday.
It has been a brilliant and exciting start to the new Premier League season overall but that was certainly not evident at Villa Park as two under pressure sides played out a dreadful first half.
West Ham talisman Rice was one of the worst too in that first half too, looking out of sorts again.
But the second half was a different story as captain Rice took the game by the scruff of the neck and got back to his usual self.
Driving the Hammers on it was Rice’s influence and clever pass into Pablo Fornals which opened the space for the Spaniard to fire home the winner – albeit via a generous deflection off Newham boy Ezri Konsa.
This was the Rice West Ham fans know and love and Villa paid the price.
Their much-heralded new arrival Boubacar Kamara simply could not live with the revitalised Rice who ran the show in the second half as West Ham secured victory.
One of Rice’s biggest fans is former West Ham academy star turned Chelsea legend John Terry.
Terry, who also had a spell as an Aston Villa player and coach, previously hailed West Ham’s main man as the best player in the world in his position (Daily Mail).
Rice has come under some early season pressure given his ridiculously high standards.
But John Terry has spoken out on Rice in a social media post during the West Ham win over Aston Villa.

“Declan Rice covers every inch of the pitch,” Terry said on Twitter alongside an applause emoji.
“What a player.”
Terry’s not wrong either, Rice covered so much ground it left him with cramp at Villa Park.
Hopefully that second half performance will give West Ham – and Rice – the confidence boost they clearly needed.
Next up bitter rivals Tottenham on Wednesday night before Terry’s old club Chelsea at the weekend.
