West Ham target Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could be set to leave Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

According to highly-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to move on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer – a player heavily linked with West Ham United.

The 29-year-old Reds midfielder is out of contract at Anfield at the end of this season, so West Ham could sign him on a free transfer.

And perhaps Hammers boss David Moyes could bring him to the London Stadium on a free transfer.

West Ham were actually linked with a move to sign the Ox last summer and in January, but he remained with Liverpool in the end.

And now the Hammers could get him signed for absolutely nothing…

Liverpool to release West Ham target Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

According to well-renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Klopp is not prepared to offer the 29-year-old ex-Arsenal ace a new deal.

The Italian tweeted:

Now this will represent West Ham with a fantastic chance to sign the 35-capped England international on a free transfer.

He joined Liverpool from Arsenal in the summer of 2017 for around £35 million (BBC).

Oxlade-Chamberlain hasn’t had the impact that was expected of him on Merseyside, however.

Having said that, the Liverpool ace would be given more of a key role at West Ham. And as long as he can remain injury free, he would be a superb addition for us.

The 29-year-old is incredibly versatile. He can operate as a box-to-box midfielder, further forward in a play-making role or on either wing.

The Ox, who earns £110k-a-week (Football League FC) possesses blistering pace and he is incredibly powerful. He has all of the attributes needed to excel in the central midfield role and the Liverpool ace would provide West Ham with another truly top class option in the middle of the park.

The Liverpool man has experienced problems with injuries in the past and that will be somewhat of a concern for the Hammers.

If he can manage his fitness properly though, he could be a useful addition for West Ham. Former Arsenal teammate Aaron Ramsey described the Ox as ‘very explosive’ (Arsenal’s website).

If West Ham sign Liverpool ace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on a free transfer in the summer, I’d be more than happy.
