Everton could secure one of their top January targets if West Ham agree to sell Pablo Fornals to Real Betis it seems.
West Ham recently triggered a 12-month extension clause in the contract of Pablo Fornals – one that now runs until the summer of 2025, but a recent report claimed we could be prepared to sell him for just £4 million this winter.
That would represent a massive £20 million loss on the £24 million that the Hammers paid for the 27-year-old in 2019 (The Guardian).
The Spaniard has fallen well down the pecking order under David Moyes over the past 18 months, and he has been an absolute shadow of his former self.
Fornals has been utterly dreadful whenever he’s come into the side this season, and I would not be surprised one little bit if West Ham moved him on this month, with the likes of Real Betis allegedly trying to sign him.
It seems like Everton will be hoping that the la Liga side sign Pablo in January…
West Ham selling Pablo Fornals could help Everton
ABC Sevilla (print edition January 23rd, pages 62+63) are claiming that if Betis sign Fornals this month, it will open the door for Everton to bring Luiz Henrique, 23, to Goodison Park.
If selling Fornals means helping out Everton along the way, then so be it!
The sooner we ship the Spaniard out of the London Stadium the better as far as I’m concerned.
The former Villarreal midfielder seems to be seriously lacking confidence right now, and a move away from the London Stadium could be exactly what he needs to breath fire back into his career.
Moyes has needed to make an upgrade on Pablo for quite some time now, so selling him to Betis should help him do just that.
Despite the huge loss, I’d take £4 million for him all day long, rather than risk losing him for nothing in 18 month’s time.
It seems like Everton will be hoping that West Ham sell Pablo Fornals to Real Betis in January as well.
