West Ham United could be about to make an enormous loss on midfielder Pablo Fornals in January.

Pablo Fornals is being heavily linked with an exit from West Ham in the January transfer window, with the likes of Real Betis being linked with signing him.

Hammers boss David Moyes needs to make some signings this winter, but in order to do so he may have to ship out some of the deadwood first.

Fornals is someone who we can definitely afford to lose. When everyone is fit, he’ll be nowhere near Moyes’s starting XI.

Manuel Pellegrini brought the 27-year-old to the London Stadium from Villarreal in the summer of 2019 for around £24 million (Guardian).

AS have provided us with an update on Fornals’ future today.

The Spanish media outlet claim that the Hammers could sell the midfielder for as little as €5 million (£4 million) this winter.

That would represent a massive £20 million loss on what we paid for Fornals nearly five years ago now.

In spite of that, I still feel like moving him on will be the correct decision from West Ham. He has regressed so much over the past year or so, and is an absolute shadow of his former self.

The Hammers have already triggered a 12-month extension in the Spaniard’s contract, so if we don’t sell him soon, we’ll probably ended up releasing him on a free transfer.

Pablo Fornals has brought absolutely nothing to the table over the past 12-18 months, and Moyes needs to move him on as a matter of urgency as far as I’m concerned.

Quite where he ends up remains to be seen, but I’m convinced that he won’t be at the London Stadium beyond the end of the current January transfer window.
