A Euro football expert’s reaction to breaking news about who West Ham now want to sign will have fans salivating.

If West Ham fans were excited by today’s news that the club are holding initial talks about signing brilliant Ajax star Mohammed Kudus, then wait until you read this.

Earlier today Fabrizio Romano broke the news that West Ham have ‘opened talks’ for Kudus and – perhaps more significantly – the player wants the move.

The Italian transfer reporter claims Kudus is now West Ham’s prime target to replace Lucas Paqueta – who looks to be edging close to a move to Manchester City.

It has since been claimed that West Ham could sign the attacking midfielder – who can also play as a striker – even if Paqueta remains a Hammers player.

Back in October last year, German outlet Bild – as well as KUMB and us here on Hammers News – reported claims that West Ham were seriously interested in Kudus.

Rumours reignited at the weekend when claims emerged linking West Ham with a move to sign Kudus after a reported transfer to Brighton was called off.

Kudus would be a serious addition to this West Ham team, which is in desperate need of more pace and guile, even with Paqueta.

The 23-year-old Ghana star is a truly gifted individual.

But don’t take our word for it.

Because a Euro football expert’s reaction to breaking news about who West Ham now want to sign will have fans salivating.

Kevin Hatchard is a man with extensive knowledge of Europe’s other top leagues, clubs and players.

And he believes the reason Kudus’ potential move to Brighton collapsed is because the player has been keeping his options open.

‘Kudus has the X-factor and could be the perfect fit for Hammers’

Hatchard told Sky Sports News Kudus would give West Ham a real X-factor and feels it would be the perfect fit.

“Really exciting, really instinctive, attacking midfielder but can play in a kind of false nine role if you like,” Hatchard said live on TV as the story about West Ham’s move for Kudus was breaking on Monday.

“We saw him score that brilliant goal at Anfield against Liverpool in the Champions League, got a stunner against Rangers last season as well.

“He’s somebody that I think if he went to West Ham could give them a bit of an X-factor, a bit of unpredictability in those attacking areas.

“He’s not quite a straight swap for Paqueta – Paqueta would play a bit deeper and drive from those areas – but I think if they could get Kudus that would be a really good move for them.

“It’s interesting because Brighton have been linked with him for a long, long time – you get the sense he’s been keeping his options open.”

Kudus is also reported to be a rare thing at West Ham this summer transfer window. Because he’s a target about whom both David Moyes and technical director Tim Steidten both agree.
