West Ham could be beaten by Leicester in the race to sign Manchester United defender Harry Maguire this summer.

That’s according to a report from The Sun who claim that Leicester City are eyeing a move to sign West Ham United target Harry Maguire from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

Simon Jordan recently mocked the Hammers regarding talk that the 54-capped England international could move to East London this summer.

I think that those comments from Jordan were quite frankly ludicrous.

However, it does seem as though West Ham could be set to miss out on Maguire…

West Ham could be beaten by Leicester to Harry Maguire signing

The Sun reckon that Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is eyeing the 30-year-old Man United defender as a statement summer signing.

Losing out on the English centre-back to the Foxes would be a big blow for West Ham as far as I’m concerned.

Maguire joined Manchester United from Leicester City in the summer of 2019 for around £85 million (The Sun).

He has struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford though, and is in need of a move away from the Red Devils in the summer in my opinion.

The ex-Leicester ace is a tremendous centre-back, but unfortunately for him he just doesn’t fit very well into a team that plays a back four and a really high line.

Just look how good he is for England in a slightly deeper block alongside two other centre-backs. He has been an absolute colossus for the Three Lions over the past few years.

Harry Maguire is actually very underrated with the ball at his feet as well and the way that he drives forward up the pitch really is an awesome sight to see.

The 54-capped England international’s teammate Luke Shaw described him as ‘unbelievable’ recently (The Mirror). I agree with the Man United left-back – the 30-year-old is one of the very best around.

As things stand though, it seems as though Leicester are in a stronger position to sign Harry Maguire than West Ham this summer. And that’s a real shame.
