And then with Lucas Paqueta’s potential move to Manchester City hitting the buffers, it was widely believed that the Ghana international would not be joining Hammers boss David Moyes in East London.

£46 million West Ham transfer reportedly now back on in big boost for David Moyes
Foot Mercato reckon that the Hammers are still in talks with Ajax about signing the 23-year-old.
However, a compromise on the fee will have to be found if West Ham are to sign Kudus.
The Ajax star is a truly elite player and he would take the Hammers to another level entirely.

He can play as a midfielder, on either wing or even as an auxiliary striker if need be.
Kudus has pace and power in abundance and a certain kind of explosiveness that we desperately lack right now.
If we do sign him, it will probably end up being for around £41-43 million I would assume, with the Hammers offering £41 million and Ajax demanding £46 million. For that kind of money, it will have to go down as a great transfer for West Ham.
Whether it ends up going through or not remains to be seen though.
