Will Still has continued his astonishing record-breaking rise in France as David Moyes hits a new low at West Ham.

After the shocking 4-0 defeat to Brighton at the weekend, Moyes admitted it was the worst performance and result since his return to West Ham in 2020.

Hitting a new low instantly saw a fresh round of speculation on the Scot’s future at West Ham.

Majority stakeholder David Sullivan responded to that talk but telling Hammers News he and the board were still backing the manager.

But he also made it clear he was unimpressed with the display and result.

A host of managers have been linked as potential replacements for Moyes at West Ham this season.

That is to be expected against the backdrop of just 15 wins in the last 52 Premier League matches.

And one in particular is an increasingly intriguing option for Hammers supporters.

By now most West Ham fans will have heard about the young manager taking Ligue 1 by storm with unfancied Reims.

The remarkable story about Will Still and what he is doing at Reims is fascinating.

Hammers News suggested recently that Still is a man worth keeping an eye on given the club’s continued struggles under Moyes.

Still was promoted to the head coach role at Reims after the team’s spectacular performances while he was interim boss in the run-up to the World Cup.

The 30-year-old is Europe’s youngest manager. And he is making serious waves with Reims after leading them from the relegation zone right up into the European mix.

The Belgian-English son of a West Ham fan, Still grew up besotted with his beloved Hammers.

And last month he admitted he dreams of managing West Ham.

Still, whose team have become renowned for resilience and attacking verve – regularly scoring three and four goals in a game – showed his amazing bilingual skills in a recent training ground video.

Speaking in an interview with Coaches Voice a couple of weeks ago, Still doubled down on his hunger to manage West Ham in the future.

Many have been writing the boyhood Hammer as a managerial flash in the pan.

But Still has continued his astonishing record-breaking rise in France as Moyes hits a new low at West Ham.

While West Ham can’t string two results together, Still’s Reims side now officially have the longest active unbeaten run in Europe’s top five leagues after a 1-0 win over Ajaccio on Sunday.

The man who famously honed his management skills on the video game Football Manager has overseen nine wins and nine draws in the last 18 games.

The win means that Les Rouges et Blancs have not lost a single Ligue 1 game since the arrival of the supposed novice boss in October 2022.

According to Stats Du Foot, Still has become just the second manager in French top flight history to go unbeaten in their first 16 games, behind only Thomas Tuchel.

Only PSG have collected more points in the league than Reims since Still took charge. That is made all the more impressive given previous manager, Oscar García, collected just one win across the first 10 games before he was dismissed.

A remarkable story and remarkable rise.

Is he the kind of brave, forward-thinking appointment West Ham must make to spark much-needed change?

But perhaps the biggest question is, could he really do any worse?
