Nobody needs me to tell them how big the game against Southampton is for West Ham United, certainly not David Moyes.
West Ham are currently sitting inside the relegation zone but a win at the London Stadium today would take us up to 14th in Premier League table.
Let’s be honest here, the Hammers have been woeful this season, but today is a huge opportunity for us to change the narrative of our season.
West Ham starting lineup vs Southampton confirmed
Moyes has made one change from our last Premier League game – a fairly dull 1-1 draw with Aston Villa on March 12th.
In comes Lukasz Fabianski in place of Alphonse Areola.
Areola, signed from PSG on a permanent deal for £8 million last summer (The Athletic) has filled in for Fabianski for our last two Premier League games. However, he didn’t exactly cover himself in glory, so it’s no surprise that Fab is back in the side.
The team selected by Moyes is more than good enough to win the game against the Saints comfortably today.
My only concern is that the Scot will have told the players to sit back and keep it tight for 70 minutes before trying to actually win the game.
If I’m being picky as well I would have had either Manuel Lanzini or Pablo Fornals in the team instead of Tomas Soucek.
It is what it is though, and all that matters now is that every single West Ham fan inside the London Stadium gets behind the players.
The West Ham starting lineup vs Southampton makes me confident that the boys will get the job done. As long as they all give 100% effort, we’ll be just fine.
