The West Ham players must take matters into their own hands after damning recent claims about David Moyes.

West Ham United manager David Moyes has overseen a remarkably poor Premier League campaign at the London Stadium so far this season.

As things stand, West Ham are currently sitting inside the bottom three, with a huge clash with fellow relegation strugglers Southampton to come on Sunday.

The Hammers have been absolutely dire to watch this season and if truth be told, our European form is probably the only reason why Moyes is still in a job.

Moyes is under huge pressure in East London. And things got even more difficult for him a couple of days ago when a source inside the first-team came out with a succession of hugely damning claims regarding the Scot’s management of the club.

Now, you can make your own mind up as to whether or not you believe the claims regarding Moyes’s fractured relationship with his staff, the players and the fans. I personally believe that they’re all spot on.

If it is the case, the Hammers are in real trouble. And with that in mind, there is only one way to deal with this current issue in my view…

West Ham players must take matters into their own hands after damning David Moyes claims

The Hammers squad is one of the best in the Premier League on paper – certainly outside of the so-called ‘big six’.

There is absolutely no reason why we should be setting up purely just ‘not to get beaten’ every week, rather than taking the game to our opponents and trying to win.

So the West Ham players quite simply have to take matters into their own hands now. I have a feeling that they might have done exactly that in the second-half against Nottingham Forest last month, when we won 4-0.

And we desperately need them to do it again.

The likes of Declan Rice, Lucas Paqueta, Said Benrahma, Jarrod Bowen, Gianluca Scamacca, Pablo Fornals and Manuel Lanzini are all exceptional footballers.

Whichever team Moyes chooses to start the match against Southampton must begin the game on the front foot. Now, Moyes will undoubtedly tell the boys to sit back and keep it tight for the first 70 odd minutes.

If we do that though, I can see that a draw will be the best that we will take from the game. West Ham have to go at Southampton all guns blazing, despite what David Moyes might instruct his players to do.

It’s time for the players to stand up and be counted. Sure, it can’t be easy with a stubborn dictator at the helm, but they’re all grown men at the end of the day, hopefully with passion to keep our great club in the top flight. Now let’s see what you’re made of lads.
