West Ham United player could be set to return to his former club in the January transfer window.

David Moyes faces a extremely busy final three weeks of the January transfer window, with numerous signings being eyed up by the West Ham manager.

Not only does the Hammers boss need to make some signings this month, but he should be looking to clear out some of the deadwood as well.

One of players to have been heavily linked with an exit is Said Benrahma, with Fulham apparently keen to sign the 28-year-old this winter.

And now it seems as though his former club Brentford have joined the Cottagers in the race for his signature, according to Foot Mercato.

The Algeria international has been absolutely dreadful so far this season, but because we have so many attacking players currently out and unavailable, I’m just not sure Moyes can afford to let him leave this month…

So, Brentford are apparently trying to bring Benrahma back to west London.

The Hammers signed the winger from the Bees initially on loan in October 2020, before making his deal a permanent one for around £25 million just three months later (Goal).

However, he has failed to live up to the reputation that he arrived with, and has now regressed drastically over the past 12 months.

Benrahma is an absolute shadow of his former self, and he lacks the confidence needed to take on his man – a disastrous situation for a winger to be in.

West Ham definitely need to sell the 28-year-old, but as mentioned earlier, our current injury list means that we’ll probably have to keep hold of him beyond the end of the January transfer window.

I reckon the Algeria international will end up leaving the London Stadium in the summer though, unless we manage to sign a left winger this winter, then he may well be on his way very soon indeed.
