West Ham have made a Wilfried Gnonto enquiry

West Ham United have reportedly asked Leeds United about signing Wilfried Gnonto this summer.

Leeds ace Wilfried Gnonto would be the perfect addition for West Ham in the January transfer window, what with his blistering pace, and direct playing style.

Hammers boss David Moyes definitely needs to bring in some attacking reinforcements this month, with Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio all currently suffering with injuries

In addition to that, Mohammed Kudus is currently away at AFCON with Ghana, so we’re desperately short up front.

Dean Jones has told Sportslens that West Ham could now make a move for Leeds ace Gnonto, and interestingly, Moyes wanted to sign the 13-capped Italy international from FC Zurich before he joined Leeds in the summer of 2022.

The Scot may well make a second attempt to bring the 20-year-old forward to the London Stadium…

West Ham make Wilfried Gnonto enquiry

The Hammers are tracking the Italian, and are said to be ‘primed’ to move in for the pacy attacker this month according to Dean Jones.

According to the Mirror, Leeds could demand around £30 million for the fleet-footed left winger. That would represent good value for West Ham in my book.

His stats for Leeds aren’t actually very impressive at all, with five goals and five assists to his name in 50 games so far (Transfermarkt).

Don’t let those numbers fool you though – he’s a real talent. He wouldn’t have 13 caps for Italy already if he wasn’t.

It’s worth remembering that he’s only 20 as well, and has plenty of years left ahead of him to improve and mature as a player.

Wilfried Gnonto would offer West Ham a completely different dimension to our attacking play what with his blistering speed.

And if we manage to sign him this month I’ll be over the moon. However, I reckon Moyes will have to sell Said Benrahma or Pablo Fornals before signing Gnonto, what with our current financial situation.

Make no mistake about it though, bringing in the Italian to replace one of those two players would be a major upgrade.
