The 18-year-old is a huge talent and is very highly-rated in his homeland. He began his career with Inter Milan before joining FC Zurich on a free transfer two years ago.

And it seems as though Gnonto could be set to switch countries yet again this summer…

West Ham eyeing move to sign Wilfried Gnonto

French media outlet Homme Du Match claim that the Hammers are battling it out with Leeds for the 18-year-old forward.

Gianluca Di Marzio claimed yesterday that Leeds were actually close to signing the teenager.

It appears as though West Ham are looking to hijack the Whites’ move for Gnonto though.

The four-capped Italy international is a number 10 by trade but he can also operate as a centre-forward or even in midfield.

He is strong, powerful and has a low centre of gravity which makes it incredibly hard to knock him off the ball.

Wilfried Gnonto  has bagged 12 goals and nine assists in 69 games for FC Zurich (Transfermarkt). Those are some seriously impressive numbers for a teenager!

The Italian clearly has a very bright future in the game indeed. There are of cause question marks as to whether he’s too young to make the move to the Premier League right now.

We think that he has the basic ingredients needed to succeed in England although it would undoubtedly take him at least a season to get to grips with the move from Italy.

However, it remains to be seen whether West Ham can beat Leeds to the signing of Wilfried Gnonto.
