West Ham fans won’t believe what a board confidant is claiming about talisman Lucas Paqueta in the latest boost for the club.

The good news just keeps on coming for West Ham right now it seems.

West Ham ended a memorable 2023 in style by beating Arsenal to put themselves into the Premier League’s top six.

But it has been a really difficult start to the new year for David Moyes and the Hammers. On and off the pitch.

Injuries and the absence of a host of key players exposed the lack of quality in depth in West Ham’s squad.

Results and performances have been poor as a result with January set to end winless after draws against Brighton and Sheffield United in the Premier League and a draw and defeat in FA Cup against midtable Championship side Bristol City.

The January transfer window had also proved fruitless until the capture of Kalvin Phillips at the weekend.

Things have very much been on the up for the Hammers, though in the last week or so.

Now West Ham fans won’t believe what a board confidant is claiming about Lucas Paqueta in the latest boost.

The Brazilian magnifico suffered a recurrence of a calf injury in the FA Cup clash with Bristol City at the start of the month.

Paqueta has been out ever since with conflicting reports stating he would be out for between four to eight weeks.

West Ham’s playmaker has been posting encouraging videos on social media as he works on his comeback.

But Moyes insisted he was none the wiser about Paqueta’s comeback schedule when questioned last weekend.

Paqueta returned to the UK at the weekend after a spell of training with close friend and Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior. And his wife claimed he was nearing full fitness.

Now Sean Whetstone, who counts David Sullivan and Karren Brady among his contacts, reckons Paqueta could be back in the squad for Thursday’s game against Bournemouth.

“Hammer Lucas Paqueta could be surprise addition to Thursday’s West Ham match day squad against Bournemouth after returning from Madrid where he was training and staying with Vini Jr,” Whetstone states.

“Paqueta’s wife announced his return by welcoming him home after 16 days away and stated he was almost 100% recovered from his calf injury.”

That would mean West Ham getting the Holy Trinity of Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus back together as they look to maintain their place in the top six.

Not only that but Edson Alvarez is also back while Phillips is available after completing his loan from Man City.

Exciting times.
