West Ham fans must watch superb nostalgic video before the Newcastle game if we are to beat the Toon.

West Ham beat Manchester City 3-1 at Upton Park in November 1993 with goals from David Burrows, Lee Chapman and Matty Holmes. Hopefully we see a similar score-line tomorrow against Newcastle.

And it’s nights like that that I really miss now, with the the reality that the London Stadium will never be fit for purpose having well and truly sunk in.

The 1993/94 season was the Hammers’ first campaign in the Premier League, having spent the previous season in the old First Division.

Whilst we weren’t great on the pitch, we did manage to avoid relegation and gave the fans numerous memorable nights under the lights at Upton Park.

The London Stadium crown need to channel that spirit and atmosphere from one special night in East London nearly 30 years ago tomorrow night…

We all know that the London Stadium is not Upton Park. We also know that the arena isn’t fit for purpose from a footballing perspective.

However, there’s a lot to be said for the fans making there atmosphere. After all, we did it for the Europa League clash with Sevilla last season didn’t we!

And whilst there is merit to the argument that the players need to give the fans something to shout about, tomorrow night the onus will be on us to make some noise.

Arsenal fans have been criticised for their small pocket of fans who sing constantly throughout the game – the Ashburton Army – but at least they’re making an effort. And the rewards are there for all to see for them this season.

If the West Ham fans need any kind of motivation ahead of the Newcastle game tomorrow night, everyone going to the match needs to watch this one incredible video from way back in 1993:

The London Stadium isn’t, and never will be, Upton Park.

Unfortunately, we just have to accept that for what it is. However, we as fans can make the atmosphere so much better than it already is.

Hopefully every single West Ham fan is in full voice for the match against Newcastle tomorrow because I tell you now, the boys will need us.

If we are to beat the Toon, we need the bowl to be rocking! COYI X
