Jamie Carragher has highlighted how he sees the dynamic working between West Ham United duo Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta.

West Ham stars Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta both started yesterday against Everton but it very much looks like David Moyes was fitting square pegs in round holes.

The Hammers manager has shunted Paqueta out on the left over the past month or so, due to his impressive link up with Emerson Palmieri.

However, the Brazilian has struggled out there recently, and it’s painfully obvious to see that he needs to get moved back into the middle – a sentiment that Jamie Carragher echoed on Sky Sports yesterday.

It has to be said though, it really isn’t that simple, and the line up yesterday proved that…

West Ham ace Mohammed Kudus has had an adverse knock-on effect on Lucas Paqueta in Carragher’s eyes

Carragher was discussing the dynamic between the two Hammers stars yesterday, during an appearance in the Sky Sports studio for yesterday’s West Ham vs Everton Premier League clash.

And the Sky Sports pundit explained how Kudus has actually had a knock-on effect on Paqueta (Sunday October 29th, 12:42pm):

“I think the interesting thing with him coming in is the knock-on effect it will have on Paqueta, because he’s been playing wider and we know he wants to be more central. So I think Kudus will go wide and Paqueta will now go through the middle.”

Now, that definitely wasn’t the case yesterday, with Paqueta operating out wide on the left and Kudus playing in the number 10 role.

And the Ghanaian has actually admitted that he is at his best when playing in the number 10 position.

So what does Moyes do? One thing that can’t happen anymore is Paqueta being stuck out on the left. He HAS to play central.

So whether Moyes tries Mohammed Kudus out on the left for West Ham, or slotted in alongside Lucas Paqueta in the middle behind the main striker remains to be seen.

It’s the Scot’s responsibility to make it work – he is the manager who signed both players after all.

It’s a nice dilemma to have for Moyes at least.
