West Ham ace Manuel Lanzini is a transfer target for Aston Villa in the summer.

Manuel Lanzini is out of contract with West Ham in the summer, and although the club have an option to extend that deal by a further two years, all the indications are that the Aston Villa target will be off.

The 30-year-old Argentinian ace has been heavily linked with a return to his homeland to join River Plate in the summer.

David Moyes has clearly found it tough to give the midfield play-maker enough minutes this season to justify his big salary at the London Stadium.

Lanzini has barely played for the Hammers in the Premier League so far this term – before our matches against Brentford and Leeds, he had been given just 144 minutes of action.

And rather than re-join River Plate, it appears as though Manu could remain in the Premier League

Aston Villa want to sign West Ham ace Manuel Lanzini

According to ESPN, relayed by Bolavip, Villa have already contacted the 30-year-old Hammers ace’s agent about a summer move to Villa Park.

Lanzini was signed on a permanent deal for around £10 million in the summer of 2016, having spent the previous campaign on loan with the Hammers at Upton Park.

Lanzini was an exceptional player for us during his first three years at the club. However, an ACL injury in the summer of 2018 really halted his career.

In truth, the South American has never really been the same player since that injury. That’s no disgrace, plenty of players struggle to return to their best after suffering ACL injuries.

If Manuel Lanzini leaves West Ham and joins Aston Villa, I will actually be pretty annoyed. I would much rather him return to River Plate.

The 30-year-old still has a lot to offer us in my opinion, and was recently described as ‘incredible’ by the Evening Standard.

Let’s hope that we either extend his deal, or he returns to his homeland in the summer. Lanzini playing for another Premier League club just wouldn’t feel right!
