Manuel Lanzini could be set to leave West Ham to join his ex-club River Plate in the summer transfer window.

The 30-year-old Hammers midfielder is out of contract at the London Stadium in the summer, although the club do have the option to extend that deal by a further two years.

It was recently claimed that Lanzini has already been told by David Moyes that he can leave West Ham.

And it seems as though a return to his boyhood club is now on the cards…

Manuel Lanzini set for West Ham exit

It is claimed that the 30-year-old could be on his way out of the London Stadium this summer, with a return to River Plate on the cards.

I won’t be surprised one little bit to see Manu leave West Ham at the end of the season.

The midfielder joined West Ham for around £9 million on a permanent deal in the summer of 2016 (The Express), having spent the 2015/16 campaign on loan at Upton Park.

Lanzini was a huge hit for West Ham during his first couple of years at the club, before he was desperately unlucky and ruptured his ACL during the build-up to the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

If we’re being honest, The ex-River Plate ace has never been the same again for the Hammers since then.

However, when he has been given minutes this season, he has actually looked really bright.

The problem is that he has hardly played! The Hammers star has fallen well down the pecking order under Moyes this season, and has played just 144 minutes of Premier League football.

Manuel Lanzini leaving West Ham this summer seems like a formality as far as I’m concerned. And it will be really sad to see him go.
