West Ham United manager David Moyes spoke to the media ahead of our clash with Gent in the Europa Conference League tonight.
David Moyes will be hoping to guide his West Ham through to the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League with a win against Gent over two legs.
However, with our current position in the Premier League table, and a clash with Arsenal on the horizon, tonight will be far from easy, as far as getting the balance right is concerned.

Picking the correct team tonight will be key for Hammers boss Moyes. Getting the balance right between domestic and continental football has always been a tough thing to do.
And the next two games will test Moyes’s ability to the limit…
David Moyes drops team selection hint ahead of Gent vs West Ham
The Scot may well be ready to mix things up from last weekend’s win against Fulham.
Moyes responded when asked whether he will name a strong team for the game against Gent tonight, as quoted by Football.London:
I’m not going to give too much away but we’ve obviously got a lot of important games. I’m sure Gent have a lot of important games as well, it’s not just us. We’ve got a situation in the Premier League where we have to keep trying to win our games. But the chance to get through to a semi-final, we have to try and take every opportunity we can and I wouldn’t want to give that up easily.
It’s really difficult. If you look at all the teams who play on a Thursday, it’s very hard to get a result on the Sunday. It’s been a difficult balancing act but I hope we’re in this position for another few games. What do you do? You take the next game, focus on it completely, do everything you can to win it, and then go to the next one.
It would be much nicer if we had another seven or eight points. We don’t. I’ve a quarter-final of a European competition which I’m thinking to myself wow, can we go further? We had great nights in Europe last year and I’m hoping to give the supporters a couple more. So we have to try to get the balance right. It’s not easy. Thursday, Sunday is not an easy thing and other teams next year will have to deal with it.

That sounds to me like Moyes is preparing to make a few changes tonight at the very least, with a really tough game against Arsenal to come in just three day’s time.
With only Gianluca Scamacca unavailable, Moyes has a really strong squad to choose from.
In my opinion, the Scot should be prioritising the game tonight. Let’s be real here, there isn’t much chance that we’ll get anything from the Arsenal game, regardless of what team Moyes selects.
If Moyes does field a weakened team tonight, it will be a big surprise in my eyes. There is no point saving players for Arsenal when we have much more winnable Premier League games down the line. And let’s face it, we haven’t won a trophy since 1980!
I will be awaiting the official team-sheet tonight with bated breath, as I’m sure all of you will be as well.
