West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen has made an honest Newcastle United transfer admission.
Jarrod Bowen joined West Ham from Hull City way back in January 2020, but Newcastle were trying to sign him as well at the time (Shields Gazette).

The 26-year-old has gone on to be a huge hit at the London Stadium, and his fine form has allegedly attracted interest from Newcastle once again.

Bowen has bagged 38 goals and 30 assists in 151 games for West Ham, and he is undoubtedly one of the first two names on David Moyes’s team-sheet, alongside Declan Rice of course.
However, things could have been very different, had the Magpies pushed harder than the Hammers to sign him just over three years ago…
West Ham ace Jarrod Bowen makes honest Newcastle United admission
The 26-year-old Hammers winger spoke to the Premier League’s official YouTube channel about his transfer to the London Stadium from Hull in January 2023.
And Bowen admitted that had things worked out different on deadline day, he would be playing in black and white now rather than claret and blue:

“So it was deadline day and I had nothing. I thought I was going to Newcastle because Steve Bruce was there. I was looking for houses and everything, I thought it was nailed on. They said they’re not paying the money, and I thought I would stay at Hull. It was £14m with £6m in add-ons and one of those was for an England call-up, and I thought that would never happen. I went to training and thought I was staying at Hull, but the manager pulled me and said ‘what are you doing here, we’ve accepted a bid from West Ham.’ I didn’t even know they were interested.”
Back then, Newcastle were obviously not the superpower that they are now, after the recent takeover from the Saudi Public Investment Fund.
The Toon are on course to become one of the biggest clubs in the world, but in spite of that, I still think they will be regretting not having signed Bowen in 2020.
Thankfully, West Ham beat Newcastle to the signing of Jarrod Bowen three years ago.
However, it might not be so straightforward for us to keep him, if the Toon come knocking in the summer transfer window.
