West Ham United ace Emerson Palmieri has been handed a late call-up to the Italy squad for their upcoming fixtures against England and Malta.
The 28-year-old joined West Ham from Chelsea in the summer transfer window for around £13 million (The Athletic).

And after somewhat of a shaky start in East London, Emerson now looks like the real deal.
The Italian ace has made the left-back or left wing-back role at the London Stadium his own over the past month or so.
And now the Hammers star has been handed a huge boost from a personal perspective…

The 28-year-old West Ham man will be involved in Italy’s next two EURO 2024 qualifiers against England and Malta respectively.
According to Calciomercato, the Hammers star has been called up by Roberto Mancini to replace the injured Federico Dimarco. The 25-year-old inter Milan wing-back pulled out with an abdominal injury.
That will be a real boost for Emerson’s confidence. He already has 28 international caps for Italy to his name so initially not receiving the call-up by Mancini would have been big blow for him.
Now Emerson has a real opportunity to send a strong message to the Italy manager that he can be a key component for him heading into the Euros in 15 month’s time.
The 28-year-old has come on leaps and bounds for West Ham over the past six weeks or so.
£13 million now looks like an absolute steal, and credit to David Moyes for bringing him to East London.
Emerson Palmieri now has a big chance to impress Italy boss Mancini and that’s great news for him and West Ham in my opinion.
