The German recently highlighted how strong the West Ham squad currently is, but suggested that the competition is healthy.

It’s good that the Hammers defender has that kind of attitude, because has has barely played this season.

Kehrer has been given six appearances in all competitions by David Moyes. However, just three of them have been starts, with only 18 minutes action coming in the Premier League (Transfermarkt).

And the German has now lifted the lid on why he might not have seen as much action as he would have liked…

West Ham ace Thilo Kehrer makes admission

The 27-year-old has been speaking to Sport1 about his chances of being involved with the German national team at next year’s Euros.

And Kehrer suggested that injuries have played their part in his struggles this season:

“Of course, the national team is still an issue for me. It’s all up to me, my performance that I bring. I had a few problems with injuries at the start of the season. I haven’t spoken directly to Julian Nagelsmann yet. But I am confident that we will have successful times with him again.”

That would explain why the German has been given just 18 minutes of action in the Premier League so far this season.

However, Vladimir Coufal’s impressive form has also been one of the major reasons why Moyes hasn’t given the 27-year-old much game-time.

Thilo Kehrer still has an important role to play for West Ham this season.

That said, if he doesn’t start at least half of our Premier League games this season, his place in the Germany national team squad may well be in jeopardy.
